Flyers Partner with Philabundance to Help Ice Hunger in Philadelphia
Team to Collect Non-Perishable Food Items at Game on November 15
Philadelphia, PA - The Philadelphia Flyers, in an effort to stop hunger in Philadelphia, are partnering with Philabundance, the region's largest food-relief organization. The Flyers are encouraging every fan attending their game against the New York Rangers on Thursday, November 15 at 7 p.m. at Wachovia Center to bring at least one non-perishable food item to the game. Doors open at 5:30 p.m. All items will be collected at the Broad and Eleventh Street Atriums and turned over to Philabundance.
"If every fan attending our game on Thursday brings at least one can of food, we can surely make a dent in hunger in Philadelphia," said Flyers Senior Vice President Shawn Tilger. "Especially at this time of year, it's important for everyone to remember those less fortunate. As an organization, we're committed to helping our neighbors and our community. Philabundance does an incredible job and we're happy to be partnering with them."
More than 20,000 non-perishable items of food would help the disadvantaged and nearly 900,000 people in the Philadelphia region that live below the federal poverty level, including 207,000 children and 144,000 seniors

The team is off to a great start this season with a 6-0 home record. Fans can join the team at home for their upcoming games on Thursday, November 15 vs. New York Rangers (Philabundance Food Drive), Saturday, November 17 vs. New Jersey, Friday, November 23 vs. Washington, and Monday, November 26 vs. Boston (Danny Briere Bobblehead Giveaway). All home games begin at 7 p.m., doors open at 5:30 p.m., at the Wachovia Center.
Philabundance is the region's largest food bank and hunger relief organization. Working with over 600 neighborhood organizations in both Southeastern Pennsylvania and South Jersey, Philabundance fights hunger and malnutrition principally by collecting and distributing food to people in need.
