Keenan Auto Body Donates a Vehicle to Philabundance through a Nationwide Vehicle Donation Program
Clifton Heights, PA –October 31, 2007 -- Keenan Auto Body has selected Philabundance as the recipient of a donated automobile through the National Auto Body Council’s program Recycled Rides. On November 19th Keenan Auto Body will present the vehicle to Philabundance, and
charities across the country will receive donated vehicles through Recycled Rides during that same week of November 18, 2007.
Keenan Auto Body Inc. is a member of the National Auto Body Council (NABC), which participates in Recycled Rides, a nationwide vehicle donation program. This program is a community awareness project whereby members of NABC repair and donate recycled vehicles to families in need.
Typically the chosen charity helps the body shop locate a worthy individual. However, Keenan located a charity that helps hundreds of thousands of people and other charitable organizations every year, and that organization is Philabundance. Philabundance is the regions’ largest food bank and food rescue organization fighting to end hunger in the Delaware Valley by providing food to over 6000 organizations who serve more than 900,000 people in need.
“Our goal is to help people in our local community,” states Mike LeVasseur, Keenan Vice President and Chief Operating Officer. “We decided to utilize the NABC program because they have a great tool kit which walks us through the entire process and together we can have an effect right here in our community and across the country.”
LeVasseur continues, “Each year collision repair operators all over the country come across cars that are “written off” or “totaled” by either the owner or the insurance company. Many times all these vehicles need is some TLC or mechanical and bodywork to get them road ready and safe to drive. Why are these cars going to waste when there are people who really need them? We decided to join in on this national effort and located a nice 2002 Ford Windstar generously donated by State Farm.
“We are thrilled that Keenan Auto Body chose Philabundance to participate in the Recycled Rides program,” said Martha Buccino, Senior Vice president of Strategic Development. “We were in great need of a vehicle to visit our network of agencies that get food to people in need in the Delaware Valley.”
