Jim Thome teams with Philabundance to Fight Hunger
"Home Runs For Hunger" starts in 2005

WHO:
Phillies first baseman Jim Thome has teamed with Philabundance to create a new program called "Home Runs For Hunger."

Thome will officially kick off the start of the program with representatives of Philabundance and sponsors of the program TODAY at a 3:00 p.m. press conference at Citizens Bank Park in the Media Room.

WHAT:
For every home run Thome hits during the 2005 regular and postseason, donations will be made to Philabundance, a nonprofit organization fighting hunger and malnutrition in the Delaware Valley. Philabundance, which distributed more than 22 million pounds of food in 2004 to those in need, is the region's largest food bank and food rescue organization. Studies indicate that over 500,000 Delaware Valley residents, over 190,000 of which are children, are not able to receive proper food nourishment.
The Phillies and Phillies Charities, Inc. will also be contributing to "Home Runs For Hunger" in a variety of different ways, including a cash donation.

Corporations, businesses and individuals are invited to take part in "Home Runs For Hunger." Those that do participate will receive a variety of gifts, ranging from t-shirts, caps and baseball memorabilia signed by Thome all the way up to a night in Thome's personal suite at Citizens Bank Park.
