Sunoco Helps Philabundance Drive Out Hunger

Sunoco, Inc. renews commitment to providing fuel for Philabundance fleet of trucks

PHILADELPHIA --August 5, 2008 -- In a generous effort to help Philabundance drive out hunger from our region, Sunoco, Inc., has renewed its commitment to providing the region’s largest hunger relief organization with fuel for its fleet of trucks for an additional three years.

With rising fuel costs, this crucial donation of diesel fuel helps make it possible for Philabundance to keep its fleet of trucks on the road, five days a week distributing produce, bread, dairy products, meat, non-perishable foods, and prepared meals. Over the past three years Sunoco’s generosity has helped Philabundance distribute approximately 56 million pounds of food to its network of 600 member agencies that include food cupboards, shelters, emergency kitchens and social service agencies throughout the Delaware Valley in Bucks, Chester, Delaware, Montgomery, and Philadelphia Counties in Pennsylvania and Burlington, Camden, Gloucester, Mercer and Salem counties in New Jersey.  

“We are extremely grateful for this donation,” says Bill Clark, Philabundance’s president and executive director. “Sunoco’s partnership will enable us to continue to distribute food from businesses, organizations and individual food donors to about 65,000 people per week.”
